The end of term is always filled with mixed emotions.
Excitement about the long summer ahead (well maybe not for the parents!), anticipation about the new teacher next year and of course the dual emotions of pride and sadness as another year 4 class moves on to the next big adventure.
This year we also say goodbye to several members of staff who have successfully completed their training and are now moving on to the next stage of their careers.
The end of term this year was one to remember. For most of the school our reward day was an exciting and even a little scary encounter with dinosaurs. The children explored everything pre-historic from arts projects about dinosaurs, breaking into rocks looking for fossils and even coming face to knee with a real live baby T-Rex! Here are some pictures to help your young paleontologist remember all the things they did.
At the same time the rest of the school were walking with dinosaurs our year 4 class were off exploring the wonderful world of Gulliver’s Land. They had a wonderful time enjoying all the rides and activities there. It was fantastic seeing the class enjoy being children being amazed, excited and even a little scared by the rides. Our children were a real credit to Wilstead Lower School.
We treasure our staff at Wilstead Lower and were thrilled when two of our long standing TAs successfully passed their courses earlier this year. Mrs Catchpole has gained her QTS ( Qualified Teacher Status) this year and Mrs Toms has gained her HLTA status Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Both are stepping up to new jobs at other schools and we wish them both every success with their promotions. Also moving on at this time are Miss Smith, Mrs Winter, Mrs Dunlop, Mrs Hunter. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of them for their energy, enthusiasm, passion and time they shared with us and our children.
Year 4, you will be missed, remembered fondly and always have a space in the hearts of the many adults who were lucky enough to work with you during your journey through Wilstead Lower School.
As we type this, the school is being cleared, cleaned and being prepared for a fresh start in September, so until then, enjoy your summer wherever it may take you.
