May celebrations are a long standing and very popular tradition at Wilstead Lower School. Each year the eldest girl is appointed the May Queen and parades around the school attended by a pageboys and girls from Reception class (in the past we even paraded around the village). All our families and friends gather round to watch the crowning of the May Queen and are then entertained by the rest of the school.
This year we are holding our annual May Festival on Friday 27th May. The celebrations will begin at 2 pm on the back playground of school.
Our May Queen will start the events with a procession with her attendants around the playground after which she will be crowned. As part of the May celebrations this year each class has been learning a dance. The dances are all based around a theme; this year the theme is Pop Stars. We will begin with Reception and move through the year groups ending with Year 4. The classes are all working hard to perfect their dance moves!
So don’t forget to make a note in your diaries. We very much hope you will be able to join us for our May Festival and look forward to seeing you there.
