Hello everyone and welcome back to another year at Wilstead Lower School.
I am absolutely thrilled to be taking over the Chair of the Governing Body this year and must start by thanking my predecessor, Ian Bryant, for all his hard work and ceaseless support for the school, the staff and the pupils of the school. His calm leadership will be missed – calm is certainly not one of my own strong points!
As a parent at the school I know that sometimes it can feel as if we are given lots of information but still don’t know what’s really going on! Mrs Robertson and I are working hard to address that, including setting up a ‘Parent Council’ and making it easier for parents to get in touch with the school and the governors. Our bigger, better website it part of this and we welcome your comments and feedback.
I look forward to working with everyone connected to the school to realise our ambitions.
A little bit about me – yes that is a picture of me I promise, although I’ve aged a bit since then!
I live in Wilstead with my husband (who works at the school as a teaching assistant) and two sons; Daniel (10) is at Robert Bloomfield Academy, having been through Wilstead Lower, and Ryan (6) who is in Year 2.
I work for myself, predominantly with charities, membership organisations and the public sector. I love my job – I get to work with lots and lots of different people and, most importantly I get to help them with things that they are passionate about. Because I enjoy this so much, I also enjoy volunteering. As well as being a school governor, I volunteer into class as a parent; am Chair of the Board of Trustees for Bedford Creative Arts and work with Sight Concern Bedfordshire.
If you want to get in touch with me, or any of the governors, you can do so via the school office and/or using the online “Contact Us” email form.
