This year we are taking part in the Samaritan’s Purse ‘Operation Christmas Child’. Please help to support us if you can.
Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, run by the Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse. They have been sending gift-filled shoe boxes around the world since 1990, bringing joy and the hope into the lives of over 100 million underprivileged children.
Last year, children and adults from across the UK got involved – including many churches, schools and workplaces – wrapping, packing and sending nearly 1 million shoe boxes full of gifts to disadvantaged children in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The children will have an assembly about the shoe box charity on the 21st October. Creating a shoe box gift could be a great half term activity, choosing the gifts together and decorating the boxes. Shoe boxes can come back to school anytime before Wednesday 13th November.
On Saturday 16th November, All Saints Church, Wilstead will hold a celebration shoe box service thanking all the children for their generosity. Refreshments will be available after the service so please join us if you can.
Empty shoe boxes will be available from Wilstead Post Office should you need one.
