On Friday 12th February 2016, Wilstead Lower School held a pancake race event. All years took part with various sizes of pancakes and pans being bought in by their parents. The Year 4’s set up the race, placing cones and setting up an obstacle course for all the years to walk around, and aided all the years around the course.
Foundation class went first with Mrs Shelton and Thomas leading the class, showing off his fantastic flipping skills; look at the eager concentration on their faces. The rest of the class followed in excitement, and there were many happy faces all around as the crowd cheered them on.
The rest of the years followed with eager anticipation racing to get to the finish line. All of them showed off their skills, attempting to flip their pancakes high in the air. Unfortunately, many got a bit carried away and there were bits of pancakes left shattered on their pans, but it was all in good humour.
Next came the thrilling part of the event, the boy and girl races led by Mr Robichaud. The crowd roared with cheers, as each class raced to get to the finish line.
All in all it was a glorious day with the sun shining brightly and many smiles from children, members of staff, parents and carers cheering on all the races.
Wilstead Lower School would like to take the time to thank all members of staff for their effort in preparing for the race, as well as parents and carers for attending the event. Last but not least we would like to thank the PTA for organising delicious snacks and beverages for all those that attended.
