In fair old merry England, eleven ninety two,
We raise the curtain on a play…….just for you.
Isn’t this fab…..it’s just like a Panto! ……
That was marvellous darlings!……
Shimmy, shimmy, shimmy, shimmy………JAZZ HANDS!
WOW, what a performance. This year’s end of term production was a real Tour du Force. We were presented with an hour of songs, dances, bad jokes and not forgetting those marvellous jazz hands as Year 4 confidently supported by the rest of the school spun us the tale of Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies.
Maid Marion, the real brain of the operation persuades the lovely Robin (twice nominated for an Oswald darling) to perform the acting role of his life, a real life outlaw. With his band of Merry Men – playing the role of Hoodies- Robin attempts to overthrow the evil Sheriff of Nottingham and his boss, King John.
The play is punctuated with one liners and corny jokes that arrive so quickly that you are still laughing at the last one when the next flies by. The cast delivered their lines like seasoned pros with a sense of timing that many older actors aspire to. Each of the actors had embraced their characters bringing out their personalities with ease.
Show songs galore were provided by the cast with each class taking a leading role in their own song. The children had clearly been working hard and not only were the songs tuneful and clear, they had great dancing too. Each class received a huge round of applause from the audience who clearly loved each moment.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our actors and singers who gave it their all, to the staff at the school who have helped them reach their potential, the PTA for providing much needed refreshments and of course to you, the parents and families, who laughed, cheered and clapped all the way through.
Special thanks must go to the staff in Year 4 who have been directing, fitting costumes, painting sets, making props to mention just a few things. Thank you ladies.
