The school sits, geographically, in the centre of Wilstead village; 5 miles south of Bedford. Our pupils take part in village events including harvest festivals and summer fêtes and every year we perform songs and poems for the older people of the village.
Our Parent Teacher Association is very active, supporting events at the school, selling books, holding social events and of course raising funds to invest in curriculum enrichment – we’ve had theatre company visits, whole-school dance events, space and science week, new outdoor equipment and sports activities.
Our Community Governors keep us linked in to our community; all of them live in Wilstead and support school events. Many of our governors and parents also come into school as volunteers to help out in class; listening to readers, helping with curriculum activities and supporting trips out of school.
At the end of every term we have a school open day to which we invite parents, grandparents, carers, neighbours, friends and in fact any one from the village. Each class is open for visitors to join in with lessons and activities and the children are encouraged to show our visitors the work that they have been doing over the term. Open days are hard work but enjoyed by all involved.
