World Book Day at Wilstead Lower School

World Book Day at Wilstead Lower SchoolOnce more unto the breach dear friends, once more!

 Shakespeare’s Henry V, Act III, 1598.

World Book Day at Wilstead Lower School went all Shakespearean this year.  Our talented and hard working parents pulled out all the stops to provide the children with fabulous costumes ranging from Juliet to Macbeth via Romeo and Lady Macbeth and everything in between.  It wasn’t just the children though, the teachers all looked amazing in their crushed velvet ball gowns and witches outfits.

Of course, the costumes were just the start of the day, we had a carousel of fun activities around the school.  Some of us were creating magic spells like the witches in Macbeth, some were acting out scenes from Macbeth using puppets whilst others were learning a sonnet.

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

In other parts of the school we had a great time making masks of Shakespearean characters and creating artwork based on some of the many plays.  Some of us even made giant collages of Shakespearean characters, look out for them around the school next time you visit.

We had a fabulous day enjoying all the activities and getting inspired about books.  Once again a huge thank you to everyone involved and to all who dressed up or helped us dress up.  We looked awesome!
